It's a way of life
Being in London right now is a good thing if you're into anything Web, so it seems. Ar article on Wired claims London is a place driving the Web 2.0 revolution. In fact, it's now been rename
Well, Citizen Journalist, whilst interesting, was not at all what I'd expected. The program did, however, raise some interesting points which I'd like to mention here. Oh, and before you ask, no, they didn't use any of my footage from the day.
Well, I'm just about to watch the documentary called Citizen Journalist, referenced in my August post entitled Enter the BBC. Sadly, I was not brave enough to accept their request to be interviewed on the program. More about that later.
Whilst on holiday recently in Portugal, I received a voice message from a reporter at the BBC. It seems she had seen the footage of the King's Cross bombings I'd sent in to the BBC news site.
In these troubled times, the UK is gripped with fear, uncertainty and a good number of questions about our day-to-day security. During conversations with friends, the hot topic is of course the London bombings and the politics behind it all.
Just when everything seems to be returning to normal here, the travel network starts crumbling. This morning, exactly one week from the attacks on London, I again found myself in the midst of the emergency services on the underground.
Well, London seems to be getting back to normal again. It's good to see people on the tube despite the events of the last few days. In fact, even the day after the bombs there were almost as many people using public transport as before. Yep, London is returning to normal. It's almost as if nothing had happened here at all. Rush-hour has hardly changed: delays on the tube, stations closed, swarming commuters and diversions. It's just that everyone is that little bit more nervous.
It's funny how quickly topical pages and sites appear on the web. On the same day as the attacks on London the following pages were being discussed on blogs and in emails.
First is a humorous page entitled A Letter To The Terrorists, From London, the next is bizare site dedicated to letting everyone know that We are not afraid.
Today, London was bombed by terrorists (again). I just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time: King's Cross at ten to nine in the morning on my way to work. It's been a very odd day. The scenes I saw were by no means the worst of it, but still enough to shock.
