A short time ago I bought the book Web Analytics: An Hour A Day by Avinash Kaushik. I've yet to read much of it, but the parts that I have read have inspired me to look further into the author. Avinash struck me from the start as someone who really should be listened to. In the video that follows, Avinash gives a talk to Google about data analytics, and what he calls Web Analytics 2.0.
For someone like me, it is a Godsend. In it he encourages the use of web usage data that departs from the usual clickstream analysis and engages the user. He shows just why this is critical to our understanding of user behaviour on our sites, and what impact this can have on the corporate bottom-line. I'll not paraphrase any longer and will let my new hero, Avinash, do the talking.
